(Scroll Down for VEA Information)
All FCEA officer candidates for 2008-09 are
running unopposed. There was originally a contested race for treasurer but
Susan Ritter, our current treasurer decided not to run due to health issues.
We wish to thank her for her dependable service as our treasurer, as we
appreciate the service of all of our departing officers. Attached to this
email is a little information about each new officer so that you can get to know
the new faces of the FCEA Executive Board. Due to the offices running
unopposed the "Representative Assembly" for FCEA will vote by
acclimation to approve all candidates for office at the April 9 meeting.
Please also be advised that at the March 11th Uniserv meeting our own VP of
Membership, Lori Ellison was elected Uniserv District 21 President and VEA Board
Chair. She will be replacing the departing Pat Grosso and represent Clark,
Frederick, Page, Warren Counties as well as Winchester City at the state level.
Please direct any questions or concerns regarding these elections to Jeff Wilt,
chair of the election committee, at JWHS. Welcome to this new slate of
officers! Thank you in advance for your service to FCEA!
FCEA OFFICER CANDIDATES 2008:
President - Alison MacArthur
I have been a member of the FCEA for the past 3
years and was also a member of the SPEA (Student Pennsylvania Education
Association). In working with the FCEA as a building rep, I have been able
to gain more of an understanding of the association and would like to help
spread that word to others to gain membership. I am not new to a
leadership position. I have been the chair of our school social committee,
Yearbook sponsor, and recently coordinating a school team in support of a
student for the Relay for Life. Alison MacArthur
Vice President - Kristal Cutler
My name is Kristal Cutler and I am hoping to
serve as FCEA Vice President for the ensuing term. I am the music
teacher at Evendale Elementary School and am currently in my second year
teaching in FCPS and the FCEA. I have taught secondary and elementary
instrumental/vocal music for the past seven years in both Kansas and Virginia.
I have been privileged to be in leadership positions in many organizations that
I have served on. Currently I am working on my PhD in Education Organization and
Leadership at Shenandoah University. I believe that my academic
background, leadership experience, ability to communicate and work with others
will be an asset to our FCEA. I look forward to serving and working with
you for the betterment of education in FCPS. Kristal A. Cutler
Second VP of Membership- Debbie Potter
I have been a member of the FCEA for 25 years. I
was the association building rep for James Wood High School for 2 years in the
1980's and also held the office of Senior High Rep for 2 years. I have been the
building rep for DJH for 6 years. I helped the Membership Committee Chairperson
a little during the 2007-2008 school year and am looking forward to taking that
position for the 2008-2009 school year.
Treasurer:
Larry Burner
“I have been a member of the Education
Association for the 4 years at Frederick County and was a member at my previous
county of employment. My goal is to become more active in the association
through the office of Treasurer and to assist in guiding the FCEA through the
challenges of budget constraints. I have served 4 years as Treasurer of a
PTO Board and I have also served 2 years as President of a Board for a private
school. I have helped to prepare several budgets on these Boards ranging
from $80,000 to over $1,000,000. Thank you, Larry Burner"
Secretary - Rhea Park
I have been a member of FCEA for 3 years and a building representative for 2 years and have an excellent attendance record for our meetings. I value our organization and its leadership as we strive to be a strong voice for the children we dedicate ourselves to educate. I am proud to be a resource for the members in our building at NREP. I serve as United Way representative to NREP as well as Daffodil Days for The American Cancer Society. I also volunteer with the Free Medical Clinic and am secretary of the Committee of Boy Scout Troop 3. Rhea Park Nominee for FCEA Secretary 3-14-08
